Support the Academy

Through the engagement of its unique and talented group of members in outreach programs, scholarships, writing competitions, awards and publications, the American Academy of Diplomacy promotes the highest standards in the practice of American diplomacy. The Academy is dedicated to strengthening the resources and tools America brings to managing its diplomatic challenges and to encouraging an understanding of the importance of diplomacy to serving our nation and enhancing America’s standing in the world.

The Academy was founded in 1983 by Ambassadors Ellsworth Bunker, U. Alexis Johnson, and John J. McCloy to explore ways in which persons who had served in positions of major responsibility could cooperate to support a continued strengthening of American Diplomacy. Today, the Academy depends primarily on funds from annual dues, member contributions, and foundation grants.

In addition to annual membership dues, contributors can choose which Academy programs they wish to support, including:

* The Joseph J. Sisco Memorial Fund
* American Academy of Diplomacy Endowment
* American Academy of Diplomacy Operational Funds
