David N. Greenlee

Ambassador (ret) Greenlee is a senior advisor in the office of the Coordinator for Reconstruction and Stabilization (S/CRS).  He was previously senior advisor in the Bureau of Political Affairs on matters relating to the establishment of the U.S. Africa Command and the transition of the U.S. Southern Command to a similar interagency-focused military organization.

From 2003-2006, he was Ambassador to Bolivia.  From 2000-2003, he was Ambassador to Paraguay.  He has also served as Special Coordinator for Haiti (1997-99); U.S. delegate (Ambassador-rank) to the Israel-Lebanon Monitoring Group (1996-97); Political Advisor to the Army Chief of Staff (1995-96); and Deputy Chief of Mission in Spain (1992-95), Chile (1989-92), and Bolivia (1987-89), among other postings in Washington and abroad.  Ambassador Greenlee retired from the Foreign Service in 2006 and has returned to the State Department on a contract basis. 
 
Ambassador Greenlee is a graduate of the National War College (1987).  He has served as an officer in the U.S. Army (1968-71) and as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Bolivia (1965-67).  His military decorations include the bronze star (oak leaf cluster) and the Vietnam service medal.
