Molly K. Williamson

Molly Williamson retired from the Foreign Service with the rank of Career Minister, having served six Presidents.  She currently is a scholar with the Middle East Institute, is a consultant, serves on a couple of Boards, and teaches at Johns Hopkins University Osher Institute. 

Williamson has had numerous postings in the Middle East, including Chief of Mission and Consul General in Jerusalem during the Madrid Peace Process (1991-93) which culminated in the Oslo Accords.

Williamson has served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of:  Defense (1993-95), State (1996-99), and Commerce (1999-2004).   She was the Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to the Secretary of Energy (2005-08).  She had also served on special projects with respect to Israel/Palestine, Iraq, and was the senior regional advisor to the US Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

She has studied both Hebrew and Arabic.

Williamson, a native of California, has been awarded 2 Presidential Service Awards, the Secretary of Energy’s Exceptional Service Award, Department of Commerce Performance Award, the Secretary of Defense’ Service Award, and 14 awards from the  Department of State.
