2011

Austin, TX: On Wednesday, March 2, Ambassador Ron Neumann will speak at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs on "Smart Diplomacy for the 21st Century:  People Are As Important as Concepts". This event will be held in collaboration with the American Foreign Service Association.

Seattle, WA: On Wednesday, February 16, Ambassador Ron Neumann gave a presentation to the World Affairs Council at the University of Washington.

2010

Riverside, CA: On Thursday, September 23, Ambassador Ron Neumann spoke to a crowd of over 200 students, faculty and community members of UC Riverside about his experiences as Ambassador to Afghanistan, using statistics from the FAB report to discuss challenges the foreign service still faces.

Palm Beach, FL: On September 23, Ambassador Maura Harty spoke to over 100 people, including many students ranging from high school age to graduate school, at an event hosted by the World Affairs Council of Florida West Palm Beaches.

Anchorage, Juneau, Fairbanks, AK: Over the course of a week in mid-September 2010, Ambassador Nick Veliotes spoke to members of the World Affairs Council of Anchorage, the Juneau WAC, as well as travelled to the University of Alaska - Fairbanks campus. There he met with administrators, faculty, and students prior to making a presentation at the Student Union, meeting with the school newspaper, and visiting multiple classes.

San Francisco, CA: On June 8, Ambassador Thomas Pickering spoke to the World Affairs Council of North California in a program called "The State Department in the 21st Century."

Spokane, WA: Ambassador Thomas Boyatt sat down with former Congressman George Nethercutt on his Let's Do Lunch Radio Program with The Nethercutt Foundation on May 20 to discuss foreign affairs in the U.S.

Greensboro, NC: Ambassador Ed Rowell spoke to the WAC of Greensboro on "The Changing Focus of the State Department" on March 22, 2010.

Monticello, VA: A panel discussion presented the recommendations of “Integrating Instruments of Power and Influence: Lessons Learned and Best Practices” and FAB; it was held on March 20, 2010 at the Robert H. Smith International Center for Jefferson Studies in Monticello. View agenda

Provo, UT: On March 17, Ambassador Princeton Lyman gave a lecture, "Rebuilding Diplomatic Capacity: Why Should We Do It? What Will It Cost?" to an audience at the Brigham Young University. The event was co-sponsored by the Utah Council on Citizen Diplomacy and the AAD.

San Juan, Puerto Rico: Ambassador Dennis Jett traveled to San Juan March 8-10, 2010 to speak to their newly formed Council branch. Events were held at the Interamerican University and local Rotary Club.

2009

Columbia, SC: Ambassador George Staples gave a presentation at the Columbia World Affairs Council on December 9, 2009.

Virginia Beach, VA: Ambassador Kenton Keith spoke at the World Affairs Council of Greater Hampton Roads on December 3, 2009.

Jacksonville, FL: On November 21, 2009, Ambassador Marc Grossman gave a FAB presentation at the World Affairs Council Jacksonville.

Kansas City, MO: On November 12, 2009, the International Relations Council-Kansas City hosted a luncheon featuring Ambassador Marc Grossman.

Houston, TX: On November 5, 2009, Ambassador Robert Pearson spoke at the World Affairs Council of Houston

Los Angeles, CA: A panel discussion on the use of Smart Power in international affairs was held on September 16, 2009. AAD was pleased to partner with the Pacific Council on International Policy and the Los Angeles Times to organize this discussion.

Washington, DC

Peoria, IL: Ambassador Dennis Jett gave a presentation at the Peoria Area World Affairs Council on March 19, 2009.

Brookings, SD:: In a February 24th lecture called "Diplomacy, Dollars and the Middle East" , Amb. William Harrop discussed the importance of diplomacy in the Middle East at the South Dakota State University.

Palm Springs, CA: Ambassador Ronald Neumann presented at the World Affairs Council of the Desert on February 20, 2009.

Los Angeles, CA: On February 17th, Ambassador Ronald Neumann visited the Los Angeles World Affairs Council.

Ventura, CA: Ambassador Ronald Neumann spoke about the desperate need for more funding and personnel to carry out America's diplomatic mission at a World Affairs Council VC on February 13, 2009.

Riverside, CA: On February 11th, Ambassador Ronald Neumann gave a lecture called "Dipomacy in Crisis: The Real Cost of Letting Diplomacy Decline" at the World Affairs Council of Inland Southern California.
