Washington, D.C. – Each year, the American Academy of Diplomacy honors one outstanding reporter and one distinguished commentator with its Arthur Ross Media Awards for Distinguished Reporting and Analysis on Foreign Affairs.
The 2025 Ross Award in the Journalist/Reporter category goes to Anas Baba of NPR, whose steadfast and factual coverage of the war in Gaza is making a singular contribution to public understanding of the conflict at great personal risk.
The 2025 Ross Award in the Commentator/Columnist category goes to Anne Applebaum of The Atlantic for her wide-ranging analysis of the many vital global issues across Europe, Africa, Latin America and the US.
The Arthur Ross Media Awards are given in honor of the late Arthur Ross and are endowed by the Ross Foundation. They seek to recognize individuals or groups of individuals (e.g., a news bureau) whose reporting and analysis on diplomacy and foreign affairs are making a critical contribution to public understanding of the critical roles played by diplomacy and the media in furtherance of America’s foreign policy. The 2025 Ross Media Awards will be presented at the Academy’s Annual Awards Luncheon on November 10, 2025.
