2020 Annual Meeting

The Academy welcomed Senator Daniel Sullivan and Senator Christopher Van Hollen as guest speakers to speak with members on the current state of diplomacy and ongoing efforts within the Senate Foreign Service Caucus. Members had the opportunity to engage with the Senators in a brief Q&A session.

President Ronald Neumann and Chairman Thomas Pickering provided updates on fund-raising and newly established projects, including the Academy’s legislative and non-legislative priorities for the upcoming year. Following, the chairs of each executive committee provided updates on their activity over the past year and for the remainder of 2020. A common thread featured the state of the Academy given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The meeting concluded with an informative Q&A session between regular members and executive committee chairs.

Note: Provided the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s annual meeting took place remotely over Zoom. The meeting featured a record 140 attendees joining from all over the world (e.g., London, California, Kabul).
