Powering Up American Diplomacy in the 21st Century Event

CSIS and the American Academy of Diplomacy were pleased to host CSIS President and CEO, Dr. John J. Hamre, on Wednesday, April 3, at 4:00pm EDT for a conversation with the Honorable Richard R. Verma, Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, on the low-cost, high-impact, and apolitical role that diplomacy and development play as pillars of national security. The session covered the State Department’s budget, its resources, and its need for innovation in its staffing process. A reception followed the live event.
